A problem with purchasing prints on-line and frames separately is that most digital cameras (I use Nikon's flagship digital camera) typically produces a photo in a 2:3 ratio while your standard frames that can be easily found at your local discount stores fit a 4:5 ratio print. And for those of you mathematically challenged, such as myself, a 4:5 ratio print would be an 8"x10" or 16"x20" while 2:3 ratio prints would be 8"x12" or 12"x18". To make things easy I try to crop all my photos to the 4:5 ratio so you can easily find frames at your local Wal-mart, Target, or where ever. These photos will be captioned "Standard". Some photos will not lend themselves to being cropped so they will be offered in the 2:3 ratio. These photos will be captioned "Specialty". Since finding a local retailer that sells 8"x12" or 12"x18" frames can be a challenge, I will provide links to reputable frame companies that offer frames in these sizes at very reasonable prices. In fact, you may want to use these companies for all your framing needs. A common frame size is 11"x14", but this size does not perfectly fit 4:5 ratio or 2:3 ratio prints, but in most cases will be very close to the 4:5 ratio, so this option will be available for most "standard" size prints.
