WINNING INTERVIEWS
I have written a couple of interviews for Loboland (click here for link to Loboland), a popular Lobo sports fan internet site, and in time hope to do a few more. Loboland is often referred to in our Trib and Journal sports pages and is viewed by many UNM athletes, their parents, along with their fans.
I enjoy doing interviews with the UNM student athletes because I feel their stories can be inspirational to many younger athletes, and this is why I will continue to post these interviews on this site. In order to achieve any success in sports (actually, life in general) struggles and challenges have to met and overcome. Just making the team on the college level is an achievement worthy of labeling a success so my future subjects may not always be the "stars" of the team. My goal with these interviews are to provide insights that can be beneficial for younger student athletes and their families.
Listed below is a very limited list of interviews that I sincerely hope benefit all those that read them and as I said, a list that I hope to enlarge in the future.
INTERVIEW CONTENTS
(click on name in blue to go to interview)
An interview with Lobo football player Kyle Coulter (fall 2004). Kyle is an overcomer in every sense of the word. Read about the medical and other challenges that would have caused many others to give up in the same situation. This is another interview done for Loboland.
An Interview with Lindsey Arndt (summer 2004). Lindsey will be entering her senior year playing for the very succesful UNM Lobo women's basketball team this coming fall after earning First Team All Mountain West Conference honors last season. Lindsey gives her insights and thoughts and shares what led to a challenging sophomore year, and what she shares should serve as a warning to many others concerning choosing relationships.
An interview with Brio Rode (fall 2003). Brio (known as Bree) was one of the top high school prospects for girl's basketball in New Mexico and will be playing for the University of California in the PAC 10 conference.
An interview with Linda Frohlich (fall 2003). Linda now plays in the WNBA for the New York Liberty after becoming a Mountain West Conference superstar, earning Conference Player of the Year honors her last three seasons playing for the University of Nevada Las Vegas Lady Rebels.
An interview with Abby Garchek (spring 1998). Abby was an extremely popular player with fans of UNM women's basketball and was a huge factor in the emergance of the program, record wise and attendance wise. She is still the women's program all time leading career scorer. This interview was done for an FCA flyer promoting her appearance as a guest speaker for the Rio Rancho FCA huddle.
